Since 2002, the Association of the Municipalities of Valnerina has merged the functions connected with the promotion and enhancement of the tourist, cultural, scenic and environmental resources of the 9 Municipalities of the tourist district of Valnerina. In collaboration with the Lord Mayors of the Municipalities of Cascia, Cerreto di Spoleto, Monteleone di Spoleto, Norcia, Poggiodomo, Preci, Sant’Anatolia di Narco, Scheggino and Vallo di Nera it explores the strategies to develop sustainable tourism for the entire territory of Valnerina, in harmony with the identity and history of the locations.

The entity also plays a connecting and coordinating role with all the other organisations that work in the sector: the Region of Umbria, Province of Perugia, Mountain Community of Valnerina, Consortium of the Catch Basin of the Rivers Nera and Velino, Gal Valle Umbra and Sibillini, universities, cultural institutes, tourist consortiums, local tourist offices, associations of operators and tourist companies.
