Description
A relay village built along the mountain path towards the Corno valley.
From Giappiedi you can now reach Poggioprimocaso by means of a made-up road that does not follow the old path. The latter descended steeply into the gully of Fosso di Paterno to re-climb just as steeply the hill on which stands Poggioprimocaso. Only the place name remains of the mediaeval castle of Paterno.
From the village emerges not only the church of San Giovanni B., but also the house of Pierantoni with its portal dating back to 1749, an interesting example of a manor house in a rural environment. A Roman inscription can be seen on the left-hand corner of the building.
