Description

The Tranquillo Graziani library takes its name from the lawyer who made the large donation of the first collection of library property at the end of the 17th century. It is kept in “Palazzo Carli”, a renaissance residence where, together with the library, all the most important archive collections have been placed: including the Monte di Pietà (public pawn shop) (one of the oldest collections of the Valnerina).

The Palazzo is a four-storey 16th century building, originally home of the Franceschini family. Renaissance in style, it underwent extensive restructuring in the 18th century. Today, the Palazzo is the property of the municipality of Cascia and embellished by an internal Italian style garden. Internally, it is decorated with 17th century oil and tempera paintings.
