Description
The Rocca was built during the papacy of Paul II on the foundations of a previous fortress.
The visible ruins remaining from its destruction ordered by Leone X in 1527 and from subsequent earthquakes show the original, irregularly shaped trapezium structure measuring approximately 50 x 33 x 60 m. with donjons measuring 30 m. in circumference.
Symbol of the power of the town of Cascia in the early Middle Ages, the Rocca is currently undergoing major works of restoration and retaining work.
