Description
The Church of San Pietro, in Poggiodomo, formerly a parish church, is a building of the 14th century, with subsequent reconstruction work.
Inside, the entrance hall, the nave, the pilasters and the apse are richly decorated by frescoes. In the entrance hall, the Evangelists on the infilling, while St. Mary Magdalene, the Virgin, St. Peter and St. John evangelist, of the early 18th century, are on the vaulting cells. In the nave, St. Bartholomew, St. Anthony abbot, Madonna of Loreto, St. Mark, St. Anthony of Padua are of the early 16th century and some of them are still concealed by the plaster.
The apse preserves St. Peter and other figures, of the same age of the preceding ones; on the entrance pilaster, to the left is St. Sebastian and, in a niche, a wall triptych with the Madonna and Saints Rocco and Paul, of the early 16th century. Finally, a renaissance tabernacle sculpted in stone is built-in to the right wall.
