Description
The Church of the Madonna della Calcara stands on the opposite side to that of the Madonna Del Carmine.
Inside, we find a Madonna and Child and the Saints Vito and Rocco (16th century). The Church was built at the same time as the castle in the 13th century and additions were made in 1438. It has a stone portal made in 1557 with a triangular tympanum and an inscription. Inside, it has a nave with two aisles covered by a cross vault. The last bay on the right still retains its original, Gothic features and is decorated by a remarkable 15th-century fresco depicting the Madonna of Loreto by Paolo da Visso. A gilded, wooden tabernacle made in 1562 is kept on the Church altar. The risen Christ is depicted holding a cross and chalice on the little central door and two Angels in the side doors. Behind the altar we can see the other painting of Our Lady of the Assumption (16th century).
A late 15th-century wooden statue of Santa Lucia, perhaps taken from the Church of the same name approximately one kilometer from the town of Colforcella stands on a pedestal. In the sacristy there are stone tiles with a Madonna and Child (14th century).
