The Lower Basilica of the Sacred Heart is located or in the foundations of the Sanctuary of Santa Rita.
Beneath the high altar is the frontal sculpted by Eros Pellini depicting The Last Supper. Above the altar, the large figure of the Sacred Heart of Jesus painted by Filocamo. To the right and left of the painting, there are four praying, stone figures, also by Pellini. Above, four vaults converge towards a large cross painted on the stained-glass lantern window. All around are stained-glass windows with the figures of the Augustinian blessed and allegorical images concerning the Eucharistic mystery.
In the right-hand transept, built by Armando Marrocco, is the space dedicated to the Blessed Simone. The urn of the Blessed Simone is a large, rough stone made from Giallo Siena limestone. Behind the urn is the reliquary containing the cutting of the page of the miracle. In the apse of the left-hand transept in a bronze and crystal-ware urn, by Armando Marrocco, lies the body of the Blessed Mother Maria Teresa Fasce. The urn rests on a massive marble base. It is surrounded by a bronze baluster made by the same artist. Opposite the urn is the expressive bust of the Blessed Woman, also by the sculptor from Lecce.
