Description
Montebufo is a village at 1016 meters above sea level in Oblita Valley. Maybe its name comes from “bufa”, to remind the frequent snowstorms.
Today the plan presents the typical characters of rural settlements because of its linear development along the road.
The top of the small village is surmounted by the church of Saint Leonardo, the patron saint of Montebufo. The facade of the parish church shows two elegant fifteenth century portals, while the inside has two vaulted naves developing from a central column. Side walls are enriched with several altars in baroque style.
Not far from the village, going up the mountain, one can reach the small church of Madonna of the Snow.
This one together with the parish church, are the two churches still existing, despite the seismic events that have repeated over the centuries.
