Description
The Church of San Michele Arcangelo, in the hamlet of Meggiano, which for the most part preserves the aspect of a 17th century reconstruction, features considerable historic-artistic testimonies: Madonna with Child, St. Sebastian, and St. Rocco by a talented Umbrian painter, of the early 16th century, a panel previously belonging to a triptych, probably from the church of San Sebastiano, mentioned by the sources.
Nativity of the Virgin, St. John Baptist, St. Leonard, St. Michael the Archangel, the two commissioning parties and iconographic emblems of St. Leonard, canvas of the 17th century, an interesting example of the vivid religious expression of the area. Painted cross (15th century), a late and dialectal derivation of the Romanesque crosses of Spoleto; it comes from the Church of Santa Maria, near the cemetery.
