Description
Roccagelli, perhaps this name comes from Rocca “Aielli”, the name of a family from the area.
A narrow road half way up the hill from Meggiano climbs up through the wild, winding gully of Fosso di Roccagelli eroded deep into the red rock; its complicated strata from so many layers can easily be seen from the main road below (no. 209 from the Valnerina).
A steep mule track descends to the river at the Hermitage of L`Eremita.
