Description
The National Park of Mount Sibillini (which covers an area of approx. 70,000 hectares) rises in the Kingdom of the mythical Sybil, from where the imposing mountain range takes its name. With Mount Vettore it reaches an altitude of 2,746 m.
For nature and landscape lovers there are trails, designed for both experts and families, which can be travelled on foot, horseback or mountain bike. From spring to autumn the network of park trails offers the opportunity to explore the uncontaminated nature and spend a regenerating period among abbeys and fortified villages. In winter, there is the possibility to practice sports: cross-country skiing, snow-kite, walks with “ciaspole” (special snow shoes) and why not? try and build an igloo.
Enthusiasts of stories and myths are welcome in the land of Sybil, of Fairies and necromancers, of simple farmers and courageous leaders.
Those in search of beauty and art will find that the Park offers an area rich in castles, ancient cities and imposing abbeys.
For gourmands, we recommend tasting the lentils of Castelluccio, the Roveja (small legume, similar to peas), the products of Norcia, the I.G.P. ham and the pecorino cheese.
We invite you to contact our offices and Park Houses to organise interesting, historic and naturalistic excursions.
